There is a big difference in procrastination meaning. As we have two types of it;-

The first on is productive procrastination and the second one is unproductive procrastination itself.

I would argue that the productive procrastination is involved with those kind of people who would try to meet their deadlines for doing their tasks on time. But they start so fast and so slow to finish, as they wait until the last minute to get things done. Not to worry about it , as long as the task is going to be finished. But this explanation can not be applied in all individuals, as there are also persons do finish their tasks before time because they value the concept of time, they become more successful to make a balance between personal stuff and professional practical job. Consequently, it will lead them to happiness for what they have achieved, and get themselves fulfilled enough.

On the second hand, the unproductive procrastination is the negative habit when we usually set tasks up to us. It is up to us to impose deadlines, it is up to us to keep ourselves accountable, it is up to us to turn this procrastination to productive. This is very dangerous. Unfortunately, it will take much energy and makes us so tired physically and mentally due to delaying – act but fail to finish it completely. In addition, this habit will affect us passively and keeps us away of thinking our family and other personal stuff. Consequently, it will lead to sadness and depression, because we have not got enough time even for ourselves though.

  1. I add one more category – mindful procrastination. This means I can finish task in a day or 2 but deliberately ask for a week so as to manage expectations of crazy bosses who would exploit people who can do fast and dump more to them. ๐Ÿ˜†

    1. Agreed tho, for this part, i could find many crazy bosses do this who really like to exploit other employees when they finish their tasks before time compared to other employees who don’t like to do the task on time because they know their boss is going to give for them another new task. Nowadays, it is good to study boss’s mind, before finishing the task on time. It is highly important๐Ÿ˜‚

    1. I don’t have a clear answer for your question ๐Ÿ˜. But if you see yourself falling in between. It is easy for you turn out your destructive procrastination to productive one as long as you experienced it already– the productive one. It depends on your emotion how it could conquer your thoughts to find your happiness after you done things. Hence, your insidious feelings will lead to take the right decision for which you could find it appropriate for you. For example, if you feel ok with positive procrastination why not to go for it. ๐Ÿ˜€ i hope you got my answer and fulfilled you enough. Dear Ortensia. Thank you for the question. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜‰

  2. Deadline is such a stressful word. However, when it comes to work, I never procrastinate. I have military discipline innate in my system. Only thing I procrastinate with is ironing. I hate it with passion and always say I’ll do it and I never manage to get it all done. Also, I stubbornly refuse to hire help because I don’t want to depend on anyone.
